An impressive land, enchanting nature, lively traditions

The Myjavsky district captures everyone who passes through it. Chalets scattered over the hills, animals grazing in the yards, autumn trees, of which foliage fades these days. The Kopaničiarsky region has beautiful nature and traditions that keep the locals alive.

Myjavsky district is the westernmost region of the Trenčín region. Its neighbor is the district of Nové Mesto nad Váhom, bordering the Czech Republic and the Trnava region. On the area of 327 square kilometers, there are at least 27,000 inhabitants living in the whole region. The average density of settlements is 82.53 inhabitants per square kilometer. Most of the territory is covered by the Myjavská hill, which forms the intersection between Slovakia and Moravia. The Myjava River flows through the district.

There are two secondary schools in the district - secondary vocational school and grammar school. Directly in the district town is also one of the three hospitals administered by the Trenčín self-governing region.

Kopanice district consists of 15 villages and two towns - Brezová pod Bradlom and Myjava, which is the center of the whole region. The city became well-known in the years to come. In September 1848, the Slovak National Council, headed by Štúra, Hurbana and Hodža, met in Anne Kolény's house. It was the first national authority in our history. Today the building is part of the Museum of Slovak National Councils.

The district is a small area, but for the Trenčín region, the smaller districts are typical of the fact that there are distinguished personalities from here. Uhrovec in the Bánovce nad Bebravou district is the birthplace of Ľudovít Štúr. In myjavsky district it is again Košariská village, which was born Milan Rastislav Štefánik. In his native house is today a museum that brings visitors to the unusual life of a significant Slovak state. On top of Bradlo between Brezova pod Bradlom and Košariskami is the Monsignor of Milan Rastislav Štefánik, whose author is another Myjavian native, national artist Dušan Jurkovič.

The district and the entire region are now known mainly due to their rich folklore traditions. The folk culture and customs of our ancestors are still alive, and many cultural events also help. In June, for example, it is the International Folklore Festival, in August the Dožinky in the Padelka relaxation area, and in September, the Plum days in the Gazdovský dvůr in Turej Lúke. By the way, you'll find here the epoxication of typical Coptic settlement from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, and during the year there are also other events, such as Easter, Advent and Christmas customs or folk crafts.

Myjavsky District will also appeal to sports lovers. There are more than 160 kilometers of marked paths, 30 kilometers of cross-country trails and over 20 cycling routes that link to the Moravian region of Horňácko, Záhorí, Podjavorinské kraj and Považí. You will also find three ski resorts. Myjava is also an experience for those who do not have the sport - the region is known for its quality slivovitz.
