The National Design Award is a prestigious award given by the Slovak Design Center since 1993. It is the highest form of recognition and presentation in this area of creative activity in Slovakia. Of the 469 works entered, Bazovský's permanent exhibition was shortlisted by 51 nominees.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Miloš Alexander Bazovský Gallery under the founding authority of the Trenčín self-governing region, the permanent exhibition of the painter, after whom the institution bears its name, underwent a complete reconstruction. With his courage, distinctive style and original view of art, he contributed to the formation of modern Slovak culture. The architect and author of the design is Marcel Benčík, the curator of the exhibition is Radka Nedomová. The visible change was reflected not only in the overall area of the permanent exhibition. She also came to re-frame the works, which received professional recognition from an international jury.

The aim of the National Design Award competition is to support the professional work of design creators and the application of Slovak designers, manufacturers and professionals working in the field of design in the international environment, especially within the European Union. The new permanent exhibition of the gallery has become an open tool for communication with the viewer, through which it is able to interpret the work of Miloš Alexander Bazovský in contemporary language.
