A brilliant comedy about what a morbid obsession with money can cause. The great master of comic characters presents a colorful picture of endless ways of deception and pretense in the most intimate environment of the family. When it comes to money, no rules of respect for children to parents and parents to children apply. Harpagon, a miserly usurer, is only worried about his chest full of money all his life. Finally, the children are forced to take matters into their own hands, catch up with their greedy deformed father and teach him a hard lesson.
