In Považska Bystrica, the exhibition "Toys in the Past"

On Monday, February 6, 2017, the Vlastivední Museum in Považská Bystrica, in the founding area of the Trenčian region, the "Toys in the Past" exhibition was opened.

The exhibition offers a rich demonstration of different types of toys - from traditional folk to so- socialist. Among the exhibits, the following categories can be mentioned: thugs, whistles, cubes and jigsaws, board games, books, booklets, dolls, toys, plush toys, kitchen utensils, pharmacies, treasure chests and more. A separate corner is devoted to children's strollers, especially for a 20th-century stroller who purchased the museum from the Bachraty family from Považská Bystrica . From the mentioned owners is also a portable puppet theater box type, representing another interesting piece from the collections of the museum.

A museum presentation of old toys will give a visitor a world of children in which playing is a natural part of life. Traditional toys were made for parents by parents, old parents or siblings. They were the gift of love, the effort to develop and educate the child. People's toys were therefore very original and unique, with the manufacturer's internal motivation giving the toy an unmistakable added value. The inspiration for the folk producers was everyday life. And so the world of "big" was projected into small dimensions - imitations of tools, tools, kitchen utensils, or furniture were created.

The patriotic museum in Považská Bystrica made available the exhibition "Toys in the Past" in the presence of 16 preschool children from the Železničná MŠ in Považská Bystrica, accompanied by three pedagogues and representatives of the journalistic community. Children were dedicated to a talented ethnographer of the Museum, Mgr. Juraj Jakubík , who finally conceived with the preschool the traditional folk play "Wash the Mouse".

The "Toys in the Past" exhibition will be open to the public every day, except weekends, at the premises of the Vlastivedný Museum in Považska Bystrica from 7 am to 5 pm and will run until 2 June 2017 .
