The Dragon Well in the forests of the Bolešovská Valley is the most beautiful and most powerful foam creation of the White Carpathians. You can get to it thanks to the educational trail Bolešov - Krivoklát, which has a length of 8.2 kilometers, an elevation gain of about 200 meters and 12 sites. It is also a popular cycling route.

If you decide to go to Dragon Well, you will definitely not regret it - you will get a unique view of waterfalls, protected plants and animals. "The important thing is that it is a protected natural creation, which has 7.5 hectares. The geologist from Nitra told me that it is even the largest travertine deposit in the whole of Central Europe, " informs Pavol Gereg, who has been working in this locality as a forester for 40 years.

According to him, the waterfalls, which are also the only ones in the White Carpathians, attract attention. "The view of them is beautiful in every season, in summer or even in winter, when ice cubes are formed here," adds an experienced forester. There are several stories of how Dragon's Well got its name. One is talking about a salamander. According to another, the water that flows after travertine at night, ligoce like dragon's teeth. However, not all legends are just a creation of human imagination. "I learned in the Bytča archives that there used to be a monastery near the well. The monks from Skalka nad Váhom, who hid here during the Turkish looting, went there. When there is a drought, the foundations are still clearly visible, " describes Pavol Gereg.
