Georadar or GPR (Ground penetrating radar) is a universal geophysical device that can be used to non-destructively survey and monitor subsurface objects. Such a survey is currently taking place in the courtyard and in the upper part of Trenčín Castle.

The Trenčín Museum under the founding authority of the Trenčín self-governing region, which manages the seat of the former lord of the Váh and the Tatras - Trenčín Castle, has decided to carry out a georadar survey in the castle building. Archaeological work is to be carried out on its basis. "The aim of the research is to determine the archaeological potential of parts of Trenčín Castle. Its field part will take about two or three days, the subsequent evaluation and processing of data will take about seven to fourteen days, " said Deputy Director of the Trenčín Museum Tomáš Michalík.

The survey concerns the lower courtyard, the Ilešházi castle buildings and the manor chapel. The management of the museum promises from him the discovery of farm buildings that in the past belonged to the background of Trenčín Castle. "Until now, research has focused mainly on standing architecture, now we want to look at what is underground in such a non-destructive way," concluded Michalík.
