The most significant recreational area of ​​the Púchov district is undoubtedly Lazy pod Makytou.

At the altitude of 600 to 900 meters above sea level is Ski Čertov - Javorníky. Another skiing attraction is the Kohútka resort, through which the state border crosses.

Lazy under Makyta occupies about 50 square kilometers. In the past there have been 40 to 50 separate settlements, today the settlement of the mountainous area is much more reduced. "However, individual objects do not disappear, but they are currently used more or less for recreational purposes. A few families still live in the mountains, but it's only a fraction. Most people have gotten drunk or concentrated in the center of the village, "said Mayor Ján Mičic.

Due to its location and its character, the village is extremely popular with tourists and cyclists. Even part of its territory was incorporated into the Kysuce Protected Landscape Area, and it also includes the Devil's Nature Reserve. Here you can find rare species of plants and animals, among other things common scallop, wild cat, island lynx, wolf or brown bear.

"In our village we have about 430 households, but more than 700 objects are used for recreation," said Ján Mičic. There are six larger accommodation facilities available here, but you can also have a drink at the chalets managed by private parties.

Today people are looking for a village for its peaceful natural environment and sports. During the Second World War, however, it became the site of a huge tragedy, which is still reminded by the Monument of the Fallen Mladon. This settlement where the temporary accomplices were partisans, on October 29, 1944, defeated the German divisions. About 16 local residents and three partisans were killed, and Lazy under Makyta included sad statistics - they are among the 101 burnt villages in Slovakia.
