Night Shows - Cursed Lord

On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of Matúš Čák Trenčiansky, together with the Theater Company from Prievidza, they have prepared feature night shows for you at Trenčín Castle, bringing the figure of the most famous owner of Trenčín Castle closer.

The first show about Matúš from Trenčín will take place this Friday, July 16, 2021 at 7 pm. The tours start every 30 minutes (19.00, 19.30, 20.00, 20.30, 21.00, 21.30, 22.00). With great interest every 15 minutes.

Idealized and romanticized by Štúrovce. In fact, he is said to be ruthless and cruel. What was Matúš Čák Trenčiansky actually like?

Mr. Váh and the Tatras, an important figure in Slovak history. A knight robbed of legends, sung by ancient songs, unknown to this day. Was he a hero, a heartfelt man, a fearless nobleman, a loving lord? Or a despot with a twice-cursed soul who can't help but kill, lie, deceive, or disobey. Great romantic poets composed ode and novels at his feet, the church and his kings sent curses and hatred on him. The simple people covered up under his rule, and the nobility and those who did not agree with him shed bloody tears again. Was it a believer and a God-fearing man who sang praises, or a grimacing murderer with a tanned face from the burning Nitra Cathedral? Who was it?! Who was he ?! We will not know it today unless we ask Death itself for a judgment. History tells about it in hard letters, but there are also kind and incomprehensible places in it. Legends put gloriol on his head, but there are also stories about him that freeze on his back.

The theatrical show about Matúš Čák Trenčianský tells the story that happened, and maybe didn't happen at the same time. It will not only be a historical fresco from the facts, but also an attractive story. We will meet Matthew and his story somewhere in the middle. Up there, at his castle, which is still proud of the city.

Who knows, maybe there will be a piece of truth in our story ...
