From fairy tale to fairy tale

Are you a lover of exhibitions, retro things and toys? Are you interested in information from history? If you answered "yes", then the exhibition From Fairy Tale to Fairy Tale is the right thing for you. The exhibition will be open to the public from 1 July to 15 September 2020 in the barracks of Trenčín Castle. This exhibition, through puppets from the productions of the Old Theater of Karol Spišák in Nitra, reveals the fairy-tale world, behind the scenes, production and the magical life of theatrical puppets and puppet theater. The professional stage in Nitra is the second oldest professional puppet theater in Slovakia after the Žilina Puppet Theater. Its origin is connected with the Regional Theater in Nitra, today the Andrej Bagar Theater, where a professional puppet ensemble was formed on January 1, 1951. Since 1999, the theater has been operating under the name of the Old Theater in Nitra, and at this stage it has recorded its greatest artistic success to date. In 2021, it will celebrate 70 years since its inception.

At the exhibition From Fairy Tale to Fairy Tale, visitors to Trenčín Castle will be able to see almost 100 theatrical puppets, or in artistic jargon, wooden actors and the original stage of one of the productions of the Old Theater of Karol Spišák in Nitra. SDN manufactures its wooden colleagues and theatrical scenery for the stage in its own art workshops - carpentry, tailoring and modeling, where skilled and professional masters of puppet craft work in Slovakia. The size of the actors, resp. the puppet is from 30 to 180 cm, ie up to the height of a tall adult. Their maintenance is taken care of throughout the year by individual craft workshops of the puppet theater, which at the same time prepare and produce puppets for each new play. The plays that the puppet theater presents on its stage are always staged by live actors so that the final result played on the stage with the puppets is attractive and interesting for all spectators, from the youngest to the oldest visitors.
