A popular family restaurant is located in Omšení

They gained their customers with a beautiful environment, pleasant service and quality food, based on the kitchen, from which every visitor can choose. Restaurant Pod Babou in Omšení is a popular place where not only locals like to visit.

Thanks to the strong support of the fans of this family business, the Pod Babou restaurant won 3rd place in the TOP GASTRO facility competition in the Trenčín Region 2020. Out of the total number of 3046 votes, they received 159 out of 58 nominated facilities.

Jozef Matuščin told us more about the restaurant in an interview.

1. Introduce yourself to us at the beginning and tell us about the beginnings in your business.

I have been working in gastronomy for 37 years, 28 of them abroad, where I gained a lot of experience and looked into international cuisine. It has always been my dream to have my own, family business, and when the opportunity arose, I went for it. The name "Pod Babou" originated in such a way that our company is located below the hill Omšenská Baba. We are also finishing the rooms, so our guests can also look forward to accommodation.

2. Is the specific product in your restaurant one of the most popular or best-selling?

Our most popular and best-selling dishes definitely include Tourist Steak or Baba Bowl, but also other dishes.

3. Have you been marked by the current difficult situation?

The current situation related to the pandemic has, of course, marked us like everyone else. And like everyone else, we try to adapt to the situation in order to meet the needs of our customers. We deliver food and we also have a delivery window. At the same time, I want to thank our guests for standing by us and still ordering food, we are grateful to them for that.

4. What assortment do you offer for clients? Will people with special intolerances find theirs in you?

Vegans or people with intolerance also go to our restaurant and of course we try to satisfy them. We stick to the motto of our customer, our master.

5. Do you have special plans for 2021 if the situation calmed down and conditions were more favorable?

We still have a lot to plan, whether it is adjusting the menu or glazing the outdoor terrace, but unfortunately due to the pandemic that prevails in the world, we have to postpone our plans.

6. How do you perceive winning 3rd place in the TOP GASTRO equipment of the Trenčín Region 2020 competition?

When we found out that we won 3rd place in this competition, we were of course very pleased and we would like to thank everyone who voted for us even after such a short time since the opening. Of course, we will constantly improve so that our customers return to us and be satisfied with us, whether with food or the environment.
