A modest biker with quick legs. This is exactly what Erika Baška, one of the most talented athletes in Slovakia. Even though the native of Dohnian came to sport fairly lately - like a fourteen year old - in a few years he worked out as an outstanding athlete, many of whom compare to the famous Petar Sagan.

His parent club is CK EPIC Dohňany. "Father and brother Martin had drawn me to the sport. I first tried cycling in Zarye, but it did not catch me very much. From my friend, I bought the cheapest road bike and with my brother we started to train on the road to get the power of mountain bikes. Five years later, a break came. I had to choose a path or burners, "remembers Erik Baška, who comes from the same village as TSK chairman and NR SR deputy Jaroslav Baška or deputy TSK and NR SR Milan Panacek. He always likes to return home to Dohnian. "There is not much time to meet the family for a year. That's why I love Christmas. It's good to be with the closest, "he added.

Erik had a talent for cycling from the first moment. He began in his native Dohnans. He then went to Dukly Trenčín. He was also a member of the Czech Continental Team AWT - Green-Way. "Mountain bikes gave me everything - the ability to handle difficult passages, technique and especially motivation. On road races I was getting more and more like speed, it was enough to walk and I was away, "said a graduate of the Secondary School in Púchov. "I'm a trained mechanic adjusting the CNC machines. Some riders also go to college, but I would not have been able to do it anymore. After finishing my studies, I decided to just bicycle, "he said.

And he did well. Slovakia was built by a tremendously talented rider who grows alongside Peter Sagan. He was first with him in the Russian team Tinkoff and now they are together in Boro Hansgrohe in Germany. "Peter is one of the best bikers and incredibly versatile. I hope to imitate at least a small part of his achievements, "Baška said. "I set priorities. I follow my dream. I do what I enjoy, and I try to do it all. Cycling has given me a lot. I know the world, I learn languages, "he added. This is where the first achievements come. On the pedestal he hangs a gold medal from the European Championship up to 23 years in Estonia. The first triumph between professional riders was recorded in March 2016 on the Handzame Classic. A few months later, MS at the age of 23 finished the thirteenth in the Doar of Qatar. The European Championship in the Elite category ended the twelve. He is trained to the absolute world top and maybe one day we will see his successes at the Tour de France, as was achieved by the more famous Peter Sagan.
