Count Linden's heart

When you say Lednické Rovne, these are not only famous glassworks, but also a historical park, which hides secrets and several interesting historical uniques in its heart. He experienced glory and golden times, but also the flip side when he fell into disrepair. Last year, however, the municipality fully launched a project to revitalize it.

This is an exceptional place. With an area of 18.5 hectares, it is one of the most authentic parks in Slovakia. It is divided into lower and upper part. It used to be a paradise on earth.

It was founded by Count Ján Gobert Aspremont-Linden, who was fully involved in building a unique work. The Minerva Temple, the moat of Neptune's Well, the Knight's Castle, the Russian House, a pond, stone bridges, houses for furman and gardener, a lake with water jets, a brick fence around the garden, and even dikes to protect against Váh were gradually built in the park. The beauty was completed by wooden structures - pyramids, bridges and a turret, which was given the adjective Chinese carillon. He entrusted the botanical garden to Anton Rochel, who had more than 2,000 foreign plants brought to the greenhouse. He put his whole heart into his desire and it finally remained in the place he loved. While his body lies on the shores of the Black Sea, his heart is located under a monument right in the park.

Over the years, the owners of the dominants of Lednice Equals changed, but after each of them, something remained in the park. For example, the Mausoleum of Jozef Schreiber, the founder of famous glassworks. There is even a railway crossing the park. "Until the First World War, the park served only the manor. Then people from the area got down and destroyed some things. Minerva fell first. The greenhouse is also gone, now there is a playground. We are left with an English park that reminds of the wild, "says Eva Kucejová from the municipal office, who has had the park under the patrol for 23 years. The dominant feature was also the six-armed linden, which, according to Kucejová, was to symbolize six of Schreiber's children. "It simply came to our notice then. However, Lipa is over three hundred years old and Schreiber had up to eight children. "

Of the original church from the 17th century, only the tower remained, from the remains of the manor, people built a new church in another place. For fifty years, the park just stood and fell into disrepair. The tooth of time had a good sign on it, because it did not have a master. The pillars of Minerva's temple blocked the passage, and nature did its part. Two windstorms in 2002 and 2010 destroyed 180 trees. "In addition, in the eighties of the last century, the tomb was looted, the skeletons were scattered around," adds Eva Kucejová. "It may not look like that, but we always cared about the park and a lot of work was done here. We repaired the stone walls, made a new roof on the church, saved the Temple of Minerva. We have also renovated the Mausoleum of Jozef Schreiber, "he said . Nowadays, the park is finally shining for better times. Based on architectural research, the municipality prepared project documentation for its restoration, while receiving a grant from Norwegian funds. The game includes not only a comprehensive reconstruction, but also the construction of an adventurous Path of Glass and, if the possibilities allow, also a glass maze in the lower part. The revitalization of greenery has already begun, the whole project is planned until 2023.

The result of the project will be a renewed important park element - the hippodrome, the so-called a tomato that in a way connects history, nature and glass art into one whole. Removed old and diseased trees, but mainly new trees planted will ensure the cycle of life and preservation of the park for future generations. "We want to partially restore the original state of this important cultural monument. The new ingenious composition of the recreation zones will give this place an even calmer and more charming character, " reports from Lednice Straight. Domestic glassworks and world glass designer Aesa Bjork are working with the village to connect the history of the park with the glass industry, which has more than 100 years of tradition in the village. During the reconstruction, they want to focus on preserving what is exceptional in the park - authenticity. The park is still waiting for a long run, but it already turns out that it has stepped on it to bring back the heart of its founder.
