Milan Rastislav Štefánik - as we (not) know him

Slovak National Museum - The Museum of the Slovak National Councils in cooperation with the artist Adam Novot, game developer Matej Novotný and the inhabitants of the village Košariská presents a remarkable multimedia project MR Štefánik / TIME AFTER TIME. A public presentation of the work in progress of this work took place on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in the MR Štefánik Museum in Košarisky. The project was created thanks to the financial support of the Art Support Fund.

"Community multimedia project - an interactive game, presents information about the life and fate of MR Štefánik in the form of a new attractive processing. Visitors will get acquainted with Štefánik through a specifically created virtual environment. A virtual tour of the village of Košariská and the MR Štefánik Museum is created by a combination of laser scanning and photogrammetry. The spaces into which the visitor is moved with the help of various artifacts in order to follow Štefánik's travel adventures are processed in a virtual painting. The diversity of spaces, the amount of information and the possibility of interaction, for example with the virtual inhabitants of Košarísk, promise an unusual and complex experience, " said Alena Petráková, the director of the SNM - Museum of Slovak National Councils, who is preparing an interactive game.

The initiator of the project is the artist Adam Novota

A doctoral student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, who has been dealing with the personality of MR Štefánik for several years. So far, he has realized a number of exhibition activities, workshops, performances, discussions, etc. The authors of the work on Štefánik also deal with the significance and role of utopia in the current context, thus responding to MR Štefánik's vision of inhabiting uninhabited islands in the South Pacific by Slovak families. As part of the project preparation, several events have already been implemented in cooperation with the inhabitants of Štefánik's hometown Košariská, such as Teneite tangata puhuru or Unusual interests of a young general - performance carried out in cooperation with ZVONKOHRA Košariská - Priepasné, Reconstruction of a settlement on the island Reality - workshop: collective planning of a utopian island by the inhabitants of Košarísk or   MR Štefánik Utopian Start-up Fashion Store and Manufacture - virtual workshop of Košarišťans - joint design of clothes.

The game offers the opportunity to get to know the personality of MR Štefánik in an untraditional way. After putting on a headset (special glasses for virtual reality), the visitor will find himself in Štefánik's birthplace, ie in the MR Štefánik virtual museum, where he can move freely, read texts, and touch interactive artifacts that will take the visitor to the places with which they are connected. . For example, when a participant touches Štefánik's travel telescope, he finds himself in an observatory on top of Mont Blanc and the like. Each of the rooms of the virtual museum offers an entrance into another dimension of Štefánik's fate, illustrated by the activities of the inhabitants of Košarísk (planning a settlement on the island of Tupai in the South Pacific, ...).

"The current visitor to the museum is demanding, so it is necessary to pay attention to new technologies and methods of presentation, which undoubtedly include experiential and interactive elements. The newly emerging project is important for the museum precisely because it presents Štefánik in a new, inventive and original way, " added Alena Petráková.
