During the period when the pandemic is making our lives miserable, the preferences of visitors are changing in many areas, and holiday accommodation is no exception. Instead of luxury and traditional hotels, private accommodation has become increasingly popular. This trend was also taken into account by the expert commission in its evaluation in the competition TOP accommodation facility in the Trenčín region in 2021 and the winner was the recreation center Rybník Horná Mariková - Modlatín.

The Rybník complex is located in the village of Horná Mariková near the Javorníky Mountains. Accommodation is provided in beautiful wooden bungalows, located in a carefully maintained and fully equipped area. There is a multifunctional playground with sports equipment, fireplaces, grills and even a Finnish sauna with a tub. The area also has a mini zoo with livestock, which will be appreciated especially by families with children. Veronika Štefúnková told us more about this object in an interview.

1. How did the idea for such a recreational area come about?

Mariková is a small village in a beautiful mountain region, about 20 km from the town of Považská Bystrica. The pond is located in the center of the village, at the same time it is in a quiet environment created for relaxation, situated directly below the mountain with a beautiful view of the surroundings.

2. Since when do the cottages in the complex work?

The accommodation has been operating since 2006

3. Do you plan to expand accommodation capacities? Or any new investment in the premises?

We do not currently plan to expand our accommodation capacity.

4. For whom is the Horná Mariková - Modlatín pond complex an ideal place to visit and stay?

Our recreational facility is suitable for weekend and weekly stays all year round. Accommodation is mostly used by families with children, fishermen who come to their own - the pond is well stocked. The area is suitable for family gatherings, or for organizing celebrations or tourism in the area.

5. When are your cottages more busy? During the summer or winter season?

The cottages are mostly occupied during the summer months - especially during the school holidays. At that time, there is also a pleasant coolness and fresh air from the nearby forest.

6. What will visitors find with you?

In the vicinity there are hiking trails in the Javorníkov mountains, beautiful nature suitable for mushroom picking or cycling, in winter you can get to cross-country trails. In the summer season, visitors prefer fishing, staying on the playground, or trips to the surrounding area - Považská Bystrica Castle, Manínska Tiesňava or Súľovské rocks.

7. How do you perceive the uniqueness of your accommodation facility?

Visitors have privacy here, they are accommodated in separate cottages with the possibility of grilling, grilling on their own fireplace or cooking goulash. Many of them have been returning with their families or acquaintances for several years.

8. Did you enjoy winning the TOP competition in tourism in 2021 in the category TOP accommodation facility in the Trenčín Region?

Of course, we look forward to a positive evaluation of our facility and we believe that we will be similarly successful in the future.
