The manor rises from the rubble thanks to the enthusiast

While in the past the mansions were luxurious mansions of the nobility, today many of them are in a disastrous state. The years of decay were also marked by the condition of the manor house in Vysočany. However, there is a lot of work in its premises these days.

Enthusiast Pavol Žatko and his family are trying to repair the national cultural monument. "Buying a building was a spontaneous affair. I have a relationship with old things, moreover, I come from an artistic background. My father was a painter, my mother a sculptor, so in this case it was a historical and artistic choice, "said Pavol Žatko. The manor house from the Renaissance period has been repaired for about ten years, with the help of funds from the Let's Renew Our House grant. "Every year we try to draw some money so that we can gradually move forward. From the outside, it may seem that nothing extra is happening here, but for example, we have already installed a new roof, solved drainage, we have developed project documentation, surveys, "he calculated, adding that they currently address the static security of the building. Pavol Žatko is aware that the complete renovation of the building will still require a lot of time, but also money. On the other hand, he says it is a matter of his heart. It is not yet clear what the manor should be used for in the future. "I am open to any alternatives that may come. First of all, I would like to keep something nice and authentic for future generations, " he concluded.

Originally a Renaissance manor house in Vysočany, it dates from the 16th century, later it underwent several reconstructions. It was built by the Vysočany family. After 1948, flats were built in the historic premises. Despite years of decay, it still retains some original elements, such as plaster layers with artistic decoration, both on the facades and in the interior. Interesting and unique in the region is the wall painting decoration from the first decades of the 20th century, which combines elements of floral Art Nouveau with geometric patterns in the Art Deco style.
